Here you go ...
The 700 moment

Not sure it counts as a 'nice bin', but it's a post run bin !

(they don't have bins in the NF, not even in the car parks. The aim is to encourage everyone not to leave anything)

(Off Roader is well ahead of me, I still have 50 something miles to go)

um 🎄
After the rain and hail yesterday, we knew the forest would be a bit wet. I hadn’t realised the extent though, especially this ‘puddle’.
So the story of that 700 mile reaching run (for Off Roader) in the forest … gentle 5 miles, warm in the sun, bitterly cold in the shade or wind.
Interestingly (or not) the forest is particularly busy. Whether it’s lockdown related (even though over), people not having anywhere else to go, but car parks and main trails close to the car parks are particularly busy.*

Anyway, that puddle - at first it seemed reasonable

Then it started to show itself

Starting the diversion … this was definitely a ‘round it’. Through it would have needed one of those neoprene suit things. And probably a snorkel

Then about half way round, the reason we diverted to the left. The bit to the right extends for ever, and what looks like bracken is really bog or open water

Back to the path, and like a comet, the ‘puddle’ has a long tail.

After that, we could continue our run. At least as far as the flooded river

A few weeks ago I was posting pics of pigs running round here. Now there’s no chance.

Although we did find some pigs and one of us (not me), after 3.5 miles, reached that 700 figure.

There were deer hiding in the trees a long way off, but we didn’t divert.
And donks and mini stumpy ponies around the car park.

*yes, the main paths were busy, but we tend to avoid those. We didn’t see anyone else tackling ‘the puddle route’.

bunting off-reader bunting top work :-)
And that’s quite a puddle um

Having got myself in a tizz I managed to run anyway and completed a decent jingle mile. Missed having Badger as my pacer but did my best. Came back and slid over nastily in bath. MrS rushed in sympathetic and then started asking if I needed slip mats and handles and walk in doors as soon as he saw I was alright. Bastard. Yes, I want all those things

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2020 thread, everybody welcome. The thread motto is:
'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

At normal times: All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles. Extra points for bins :-) And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.
