I replaced my canes today after ishep brought me some huge ones home one day last week.
I can't beleive how hairy they are!! Not sure I like it!
How do the ones in fields stay upright? Surely the farmer doesn't go and stick a cane in all of them??

Leave them outside during the day if you can fleecy. Theyll toughen up and the snails won't touch em. It's when they are soft and juicy the snails will have em

True, but right now it’s so warm and humid they won’t stand a chance. I’ll pot them on though and buy slug pellets. The 3 I did put out got decimated along with some climbers
