That reminds me, NE, can you bump me up to 61 after my August stay in Pooley Bridge? Took me 4 days to do what Synge probably did one morning before lunch (SW of Ullswater)

jacdaw: I've stayed at both. NDG is better appointed. ODG can mean a trip down the corridor to the loo and shower for some rooms. The Walker's Bar at ODG is great, food fine. Best food was at The Stickle Barn beside NDG. NDG food is fine too. They all do good beer. Only caveat: I haven't been for about three years. |

Stan's had a busy time bagging Wainwrights since the last update including a day admiring the views around the Fairfield Horseshoe last month. This weekend he finally managed the 2 miles from our front door to the top of Clough Head (no idea why he hadn't done this before). He has a companion now too but she is a long way from getting to a number that is suitable for the side bar. Stan is now on 38. |

I can think of some ideas why not to to do Cough Head. Definitely not making my top 10, nor probably top 100. Although it's probably different as a finish to a trip over the Dodds just before heading home for a cuppa!
