Um! I'm so jealous! My little sister lives in Cairns now, although she was on the Gold Coast for a few years too! I can't wait to get back over for a visit - enjoy :-)

It gets worse Megster ... I will be in Cairns before Brisbane. (plus a few other places on the way there and back - mostly courtesy of BA & hotel points from years of work commuting)

Breakfast at Yorkies Knob is a must... the pancakes are really good.
Ice-cream at Palm Cove is a must (and you can hire paddle boards and stuff there too)
A trip to the reef is ESSENTIAL - you can hire snorkle gear - it was the BEST DAY EVER, and if you've time a trip to Fitzroy island is essential too - we swam with a turtle there - get an underwater disposable camera!
A trip in the cable-car up into the rainforest is a good day out, as is hiring a mtb and heading for the Smithfield trails, where they held the UCI MTB world cups! ridecairns.com I could go on, but I'll leave you with him:
