OH is ordering a new washer/dryer from John Lewis - ours just packed in. Will be delivered next Saturday - they're in the area anyway, so we chose the 'Eco' option. May need to do a midweek wash at the in-laws...

Do you object to creeping Australianisms, too, Fleecy? :-)

It's good to have a role model Dave...
I went to put the iron away and the bottom fell off again so I guess it's not fixed but irretrievably broken. This has been my best iron ever! The others all died from hard water poisoning but this one just literally fell apart instead. Going to buy another Phillips at some stage.

Australianisms are ok from Australians, Bint. Though the whole rising inflection thing is something which really needs exporting straight back to Australia!

So it's Australia to blame for that rising inflection?

As a child, Elder Daughter liked macaroni, liked cheese, even liked cheese sauce provided she could scrape it out of the saucepan; but didn't like macaroni cheese. So she got macaroni and cheese (separately) (mac'n'cheese) when the rest of the family had macaroni cheese.

Beef casserole (which I made yesterday), roasted carrots and parsnips, kale and broccoli.

I used the remaining carrots and parsnips to make soup.

I've done the ironing in record time - either there wasn't as much as usual (which would be strange) or the alcohol in the coffee spurred me on. Either way I can now sit down for the rest of the evening.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
