Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Fingers crossed for waxwings!

Recent events have made me reflect on my post last (?) year saying I'd seen a flock of waxwings, when I meant lapwings. I promise it was unintentional numptyitis rather than deliberate misleadingšŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

A good friend of mine posted on another forum he'd seen a flock of avocet when it turned out they were lapwings. Don't worry. Obviously, if you post about hooded crows that's different ;-)

Lots of short eared owls about at the moment. I get the sense there are tons of voles.

There are tons of voles in my garden alone.
Can't complain, I created the habitat for them to attract owls (and entertain my cat and chickens who like catching them too)

I keep seeing voles everywhere. I know the population cycles between boom and bust, so I think we must be near the top of the cycle.

All over our local fb's today. I may have to go out looking. Although further comments imply he'll have found some shelter from the rain somewhere.

I know itā€™s not a good picture, but couldnā€™t get any nearer before it flew off making a squawking that Iā€™ve never heard. It was perched on a Rowan Tree with yellow berries.
Any ideas ?
