Such a spring day. A six mile loop run out from the outskirts of town, along the river, and into countryside/farmland and back in again and made a mental note of everything I saw/heard.

So many chiffchaffs, few blackbirds, skylark, and various other songs I couldn't pick, chaffinch, bullfinch, probably a goldfinch, house sparrows, great tit, crow, rook, magpie, jackdaws, possibly two yellowhammers (or yellow/brown warblery birds), woodpigeons, two collared doves, and finally a fishing goosander and one high-flying non-descript gull.

I got from 2 to 5 miles and barely noticed how far I'd run.

It was the Crested Grebe that made me laugh, I’ve seen the tree creeper running up next doors tree and I always worry that Stripey will think it’s a mouse, but there’s no water at all round here and nothing flew past at the time.

Chiff chaffs every where today, even in the centre of Holmfirth. Plus I actually saw a thrush while I was doing parkrun.

Re. your "grebes" - beyond app error, starlings, Sedge warblers and others can be amazing mimics (and both those species share habitat with the grebes so could have picked it up!). This time of year Sedge warblers turn up in all kinds of places.

Starling have caught me out before doing curlew and swift. The curlew impression also got out old neighbour Ken, an ex gamekeeper

I saw my first swallow while I was sat waiting for sunset at our local iftar. It was magical as it flew over when the new imam was giving his speech.
