Middlesbrough was the most depressing place I ever visited for work, change at Darlington onto the diesel train bodied off a bus, remember those.. and over the fields you saw the smog and knew you’d arrive soon. Did get to meet Paul Daniel’s though, he was born around that way I believe and opened up the refurbished Captain Cook Shopping Centre I was working on.

I went to Middlesbrough last year. I have to agree that the town centre was the most depressing place. I didn't get to meet Paul Daniels though, probably because he's dead.

The old parts of what we now call Milton Keynes are fine. Stony Stratford, Newport Pagnell and so on.

Although I may get the weight of Nico crashing down on me, a case may be made for Ilkeston. According to trip advisor, this is the number one attraction in Ilkeston.

and my pictures of it

Actually I quite like Ilkeston, it has a great museum, some good pubs and the Bennerley Viaduct nearby.

Is it meant to be ironic that many folk refer to an ATM as "the hole in the wall"?
