Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm now reading hypothermia having not taken care of himself I guess in the pursuit of Jasmin so the more charitable side of me says .......... bad luck rather than pride forced him off the fells :-(

It must have been something major to stop him so close to the finish. He seemed to have stopped moving for a while before hut 2 last night.
Anyway - hope he's OK.
Eoin is on that last stretch now.
I really should be doing some work and not watching this tracker :-D

Maybe he preferred ‘DNF’ to ‘chicked’ ;-)

A little bit of charity goes a long way, I find.

I guess it's the risk of being at the pointy end and being totally focussed on the win. Not a problem I've ever had (or will ever have!). Poor bloke.

It appears Eugeni spent several hours in Hut 2 trying to sort himself out before attempting to finish. He got as far as the Schill and was forced to hit the emergency button on his tracker. MRT were already primed to go and with the guys at hut 2 got him sorted and walked off (It's only about 4k to the road head). Over the last few days my personal observation was that several important items of his kit may have met the regulations but they were considerably more 'lightweight' than those being used by Jasmin and others (notably his waterproof which was of the type I'd use in a summer race albeit that it undoubly had taped seams, correct level of waterproofing etc) and he has a tendency to be less well wrapped up for the prevailing conditions. Now the second element is very much personal preference but after 80 odd hours on the Cheviot ridge in freezing conditions I suspect it left him vulnerable to getting too cold.

One isn’t going to be moving as quickly at the Spine as say at Wasdale. ‘Racing kit’ has its place
