I know, right? Only very few people have behaved like that but I have definitely had a few frowns from people for "misbehaving". As if there is a set pattern for people undergoing cancer treatment? At the very beginning, I had been VERY ill, I was at last able to do my own shopping so I was in Waitrose, buying food I like rather accepting what I was given/bought for me. A woman from the village shouts across the checkouts disapprovingly: "didn't expect to see YOU here, you are supposed to be dying of cancer" Queue: everyone pities me and starts helping me, even though I didn't need help. Me to shouty woman: yes, I do have cancer. That doesn't stop me from shopping and eating! Sorry, but I need the loo... And I went off to the loo to avoid having to defend myself over the severity of my disease and the fact that I had the audacity of actually being seemingly better π± It is extraordinary how some people react!

That's horrid Hann. As if dealing with cancer wasn't hard enough. Wishing you all the best medically and strength and happiness too. X G

That gets balanced out by bumping into a client in Waitrose a few weeks later. She starts jumping up and down, hugs me, saying oh I am SO glad to see you here, we have been so worried! This was when I just started to get a bit better... Now they see me out and about on my good days and the skeptics don't understand what is happening as I have seemingly emerged from the brink of death... I am not even halfway through my treatment path πππ Oh, the delights of living in a village where one set of neighbours hates you for having bought a slice of land for a sh#tload of money many years ago and actually fenced it and used it π± They have been trying to find out since March if my death is imminent π±

Hmmm people, nasty. Sorry to hear that.
Excellent piece of future modelling with my IFA yesterday; I can fully retire next year if I want assuming a couple of things happen. A few changes to make things more tax efficient - I've certainly not been on the ball here. Income will be more the adequate for a great lifestyle so some choices/thinking to do.
Happy days.

ION I have received a letter about taking my final salary pension. I was only in the scheme for 3 years but oh how I wish it had been 10 or 20. But still, it will give us enough money annually to pay the council tax and the utilities and thatβs a great blessing because they both seem like such huge bills these days.

But... The sun is shining and even though I failed to get to Taiji, I will do some later, barefoot in the garden. I shall then defy the odds and go for a walk. I think I shall take the footpath through my neighbour's remaining field, out of the back of my garden, just to be a teeny bit naughty! They don't like me using the footpaths over their land... Actually, they don't like anyone using the footpaths, they are weird control freaks.

JB, aren't they just? I have been given a year of council tax relief because of my benefits. It is saving me Β£125/month and that is with single discount π±
Thing is, I would not mind paying that if the actually used it to maintain the roads and collect rubbish and maintain a sewage system! But we are subjected to flooding, because culverts are blocked/not maintained, rubbish gets collected only every other week, attracting vermin and stinking the village out in hot weather and I have spent thousands over the years on repairs to the car suspension/axle and new tyres because of the state of the roads π± It is why a lot of older people move away from here. It gets too bad to negotiate, especially in winter. HEREFORDSHIRE COUNCIL get your act together!!!
