Like Gus, I thought that Slioch, the Fisherfield (not 6) and An Teallach was a huge day (four days for mortals). To then add the Fannichs in the dark as well is phenomenal. Maybe he recovered with a good stretch on the bike (ironic reference). And to then add Benn Wyvis in the middle of the night AS WELL just takes the biscuit! I guess Donnie is feeling good and looking to put this record out of reach for a long time. Huge push to the end now, with very little sleep tonight maybe? From this morning:   |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Just doing Slioch and biking to Ben Wyvis would be a tough day for mere mortals. It was a stunning clear, calm, moonlit night here last night so perfect for a quick trip up Wyvis!

So what do we think for today/tomorrow ? 1. The Beinn Dearg 6 today, the northern 4 tomorrow 2. Beinn Dearg 6 plus Conival and Ben More Assynt today, then Klibreck/Hope tomorrow 3. Another huge effort and do them all today/tonight ? If he was fresh then another huge day today after yesterday probably possibly for him, but is it possible on days 31 and 32 ? The sensible option would be 2 and finish in daylight, but these guys are motivated, not necessarily sensible, so will see. I mean he must be exhausted, and he's certainly not flying up the first one this morning |

He will be really scenting the finish now and will just want it over. I suspect he would really like option #3 but it will no doubt depend how his body behaves and how much he can override the fatigue. So right now I doubt he knows the answer but the motivation to just get it done will be very high. May also depend on how much company he has to ensure he stays safe, particularly if goes into the dark.

There's a bit of me that wonders if he might just keep going all day & night. That's based on the last 24 hours - emptying the tank since he must (?) be feeling good to have done yesterday's epic mileage. I'd expect to see him cycle up to Inchnadamph for Conival and Ben More Assynt this afternoon for day 32. Whether he then keeps on going to finish by 6am tomorrow and finish just under 33 days is possible, but a big ask. Donnie is a bit competitive though. Just noticed Rachel in the support van heading up Strath Mulzie for a bike drop after Seana Bhraigh. |

If the weather in this bit of the north is anything to go by option 3 will net the best conditions. Perfect hill day today with moderate southerly breeze, but deteriorating tomorrow with more wind and rain.

_andy, you're a day out there, at 6am this morning it was 31 days, today up until 6am tomorrow is the 32nd day, so if he finishes before 6am tomorrow it will be under 32 days. Spyke was 39 days 9 hours, so barring injury, he'll definitely beat 32 days and 9 hours. I think most people thought Spyke's time was pretty phenomenal, perhaps a day or two slack in it, but to take over a week off is just ridiculous |

Rather than cycle to Inchnadamph and do Conival and BMA from the normal west, do you think he might cycle east from bottom of Strath Mulzie to Rosehall, then up Glen Cassley ? Never been up there, but road pretty far up, then looks like a double track to within about 2.5km of BMA, so maybe slightly more cycling than going to Inchnadamph, but less running, but running probably not on as good ( if any ) paths. Then the big question is how he gets to Crask, does he run across country, or cycle back down Glen Cassley, along to Lairg, then north from there ? |

Spot on Gus! I know what I meant, rather than what I said. This is day 32, but finishing today would of course make for 31 days and xx hours. I see that he's absolutely flown down Stath Munzie! After Ben More Assynt I'd expect him to head off to the east - the tracks there are pretty good these days (I was in there a couple of years ago) |
