I made some one year. I overbaked them (or more accurately, the oven did, I took the instructions as gospel and didn't check on them soon enough) and quite honestly they didn't seem worth the faff compared to just picking up a packet in the shops.

Late night munchies struck. 2 left in the pack and I'm working from home tomorrow. Their chances of seeing the day out are minimal....

Mine will be extremely Cross because that's how I'll be when I cock them up.

I love Hot Cross Buns but have this vague sense of 'you're not supposed to eat them before Good Friday' although I'm not sure if that counts as we are not even into Lent yet. And it's not as if I am a regular churchgoer anyway........

So............. the other day I made 'Hot X apple scones' These are a Waitrose recipe, a variation on the Easter classic. They didn't really come out right and are somewhere between scone (but not much) and a regular HotXB only with apple in. We have had 4 so far.
Does the panel think these count?

They started off with a cross... but the mixture was too wet and the crosses sort of meted over the top. Some are more cross-y than others.
