Steve, I heard another track today that you might enjoy given our previous discussion about Darrell Banks - search for "I'm the One Who Loves You".

Oh, yes! High quality soul; superb voice. The version I chose on YouTube has a report of how Darrell Banks met his end: a 'crime passionel' by proxy, it seems. :(

Here's some more conventional northern soul that I hope you enjoy, one that came from the classic OKeh label. Like this one, simple but soulful.

I already posted the Tan Geers "other" big one a while back (207) but I think it stands another play (it's effing brilliant).

Anoraks on time: Following Swits' interest in Darrell Banks I was doing some research as I know that he recorded on Volt as well as the Solid Hitbound labels (Revilot etc) that Todmorden Tim and KR own the rights to. Well, I'm a bit behind the curve - it seems that Kent records (which is really where the connoisseurs go to look for their music) produced a CD of his Volt material, including some unreleased stuff.

Todmorden Tim = Tim Brown. He is supposed to have the biggest collection of northern soul in the world, certainly an unusual character. A world authority on rare american vinyl AND zoos. If that's not an eclectic blend, I don't know what is!

Enjoying seeing posts on here again NE

Just had a nice 10 or 15 mins sampling a few random tunes from early Kent Northern comps on YT. Again so many different sounds - elegant soul / pop, dirty R&B, almost slightly corny sounding girl groups
