I bought a sweaty, cloth wrapped Wookey Hole Cheddar "chuckle" a couple of years ago.
It was ok, but not really very Cheddary.

The one I had (admittedly reduced to about 20% of the original price) was very sweaty and had a hint of blue cheese about it. No "grainy" "crystallised" texture I associate with really good mature Cheddar.

Not a huge fan of the Wooky Hole stuff, but fun seeing it kept behind bars if you do the cave tour. I remember the stuff actually made in cheddar as being very nice, but it must be at least fifteen years since I tried it.

Pity it never got protected status. The rest of the cheddars should simply be called "cheese". Davidstow, incidentally, is just a factory owned by Dairy Crest.
Any of you voting for cheese over Louis had better check your trainers before you put them on next. He will also piss on your cheese.
