A mate wants to run sub two hours for a Half, so I said I would help with the pacing and finding a suitable venue. I did the Barns Green Half last September which was ace, but is undulating so not sure if it is the right one to go for.

I am ruling August out as either he or I will be away for most of it.

I was looking at the Down Tow Up Flow one, as I was close to doing that last year, but looking on RW it seems it can get a bit clogged up along the towpath. Any other ideas?

Hmmm, two hour drive to get there, so may be a bit much. I will add to the shortlist though!

Bentley might work as a "bad weather/injury for the autumn race" back-up, though again it seems a bit ot a trek to get too (Google telling me 2+ hours).

St Neots on the list. Seems do-able and I like the sound of the finish!

If Peterborough's too far, he definitely won't want Mablethorpe or the Isle of Axholme ;-)

Shame, because you'd be hard pressed to find flatter races.

Maidstone's the right time of year, but no part of Maidstone is "flat"

UFD Hackney Half Marathon would be a possibility. 31 August, pancake flat. Laps but they are varied enough that they don't get boring and the marshalls tend to be very good and encourage you by name (they have a list). Some shortish stretches are on grass but otherwise it is on the paths of Hackney Marshes. One of my favourite races.

Down Tow Up Flow was one that I did last year - I don't recall congestion being much of a problem.
