Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

This is part of a series of events in Stockport in September. On consecutive weeks there is a 10 mile walk, 20 mile cycle ride and finally this 10km run.

It is organised by the council and I was a little sceptical when I first saw the flyer. But I've just been to a meeting where I've seen the proposed route and I was impressed - they're even closing the A6 and really going for an event that the town can be proud of. I'd urge anyone local to put this in your race diary and support this great initiative.

Thanks Bob, I'll certainly bear it in mind. I assume it won't be a PB course?

It will be uphill out, downhill back so it should be reasonably fast.

But it is great to see the council making an effort and £10 entry for a closed roads race is good value.

The price is similar to both Trafford and Birchwood 10ks. Whilst both are also on closed roads, neither have the complication of requiring the closure of a road as busy as the A6, so yeah that sounds excellent value (and all just a quick hop around the M60 from home :-)).

Indeed, Pato. I'll be running Macc Half too. I don't know about limits but given the course, town centre transport and parking they should be able to aim high.

The outline route has now been published at lifeleisure.net

There will be a bit of additional distance to add to this route probably around Vernon park.

You can request an entry form ftrom the same page. Hopefully online entry will follow soon.

RB - I've entered or at least I will have when I get some stamps :-) can't remember the last time I had to post an entry to a race. As for Vernone Park - I hope any extra is all downhill ;-)
