Ok... So 18 months ago I was living in the UK, running 3-5 miles everyday and having a nice LSR on a weekend... I have now moved to Australia and time has been against me, with jobs, house and family commitments... I want to get back into running again but struggling to get into the swing of it... Get my head into it again... Any tips on how I can do this? I don't have as much time these days, so running everyday isn't what I am aiming for, however I would like to run a 3 miler with ease and be able to go out and do a 10km on a weekend no dramas... I miss running... :( Tips and advice will be much appreciated..... :)

Welcome to Fetch H Cat :-)

I think getting in to a routine helps. If you set aside certain days where you will run and stick to them - even if it's only for a couple of miles then before you know it you've got back into a habit. Joining a club or getting a running buddy who you agree the day you go out in advance might help you stick to it.

Don't go too mad early on. Battlecat has some good advice: running is a habit but so is not running. Don't worry about pace or timing anything; just pick somewhere good to run and be gentle with yourself. Oh, and good luck!!

There are quite a few parkruns in Australia which could help.

Thanks guys. Your advice is much appreciated. I guess patience is the key.I cannot expect to be at the level I was 18 months ago straight up. I just hate how quickly your fitness and strength disappears! Here's to getting back in to the habit! :)

Great - keep up the parkruns. We will be doing one on the Gold Coast when we're out there for my m-in-law's birthday in Feb.

Welcome to fetch
I am getting back into running too following injury, house move, new job <insert excuse here>. I understand the frustration of not being able to run at the same level as before
