So here's the article on the time line of Wiggins use of TUEs.

theguardian.com

His Dauphine win and the jiffy bag predates his first appointment with the specialist on 28th June 2011 who prescribed triamcinolone and the subsequent use of TUEs. La Toussire happened on 12th June 2011.

en.wikipedia.org

Now I'm not suggesting he used it at the Dauphine, as the winner he would have been tested and failed. But the fancy bears hack and the jiffy bag episode both imply that there was perhaps intent to use it in the Dauphine as well (first TUE application form was date 31st May and the form leaked was headlined Dauphine - which started on 3rd June). and perhaps there wasn't a chance to get the paperwork done in time? But still, it is highly, highly dubious practice at best.

Fortunately larks and I aren't a Gobi vs larks situation, he doesn't press my buttons, we might disagree but I don't get wound up by it. He even changes my mind sometimes :-).

It's hard to go back from disillusioned to the kind of believing state I had before, that's the main issue. Once you have the gnawing doubts, they don't go.

No slight intended anywhere.

Not embarrassed to say that I believed in lance. Different sport but Hansie Cronje was a hero. How feckin old and naive does that make me??!! Wiggins "tue's/level the playing field" malarkey was my breaking point. "Top level" sport is all tainted for me now.

It gets worse for Wiggins...

bbc.co.uk

And Ross Tucker (lark's bete noire) says it no longer amounts to a TUE, but to fully fledged doping, as explained here:

Tucker even qualifies his own view though - "This (an anti-doping violation) of course applies to the in-competition use of the drug (as pointed out by @oufeh). Out of competition, athletes can use corticosteroids without a TUE, which really should change. The medicalization of sport continues. “What is clean?” - so effectively says it isn't doping. The usual nonsense from him ;-)

I'm waiting to hear from Wiggins in the next few days. I hope he'll leave no questions unanswered, but at the very least I am happy to go along with a view that Sky haven't lived up to the standards that they set themselves.

Meh, just another one to add to the list of broken sporting promises. I've been here for many years. There will be many more.

Hopefully this starts to shatter the 'we're English so we don't dope' mentality. Nonsense.

All those cheating foreigners, and we finish 2nd in the Olympic medal table just on good old pluck. Total ar$e.

Rip it all up. I was happier when we were sh1t.

Waiting to see Wiggins labelled a dirty cheating Belgian

Is there any solace that the scale of cheating talked about is marginal/ethical rather than the widespread larger scale cheating of the past?
