A few of you have reported that the site has been running a bit slowly in the last week or so.
Over the last few weeks, we've had quite a few new users arrive on the site, bringing with them large ZIP files full of training histories. I think it's possible that the background importing of this data is having an impact on the server. I've noticed a sluggishness when browsing the site on my phone, but not really so much when on desktop.
I've done some things to try to alleviate this e.g. by scheduling the importing for times when the server is not as busy; and by trying to streamline the import process. Some of you have mentioned the 'render time' at the bottom of the page. Typically when I've hit a slow page, the render time has looked fine (mostly

Over the last few weeks, we've had quite a few new users arrive on the site, bringing with them large ZIP files full of training histories. I think it's possible that the background importing of this data is having an impact on the server. I've done some things to try to alleviate this e.g. by scheduling the importing for times when the server is not as busy; and by trying to streamline the import process. Some of you have mentioned the 'render time' at the bottom of the page. Typically when I've hit a slow page, the render time has looked fine (mostly <1s). This render time represents the time when the script that builds the page starts running, to the point at which it spits it out ready to be served up to you. So I'm wondering whether there's something before or after that part of the process that is causing a bottleneck. I'll get in touch with the server company too, to see if they can spot anything.
Meanwhile, if you hit a sluggish page that is normally very quick, please wait until it loads, and then scroll down to the bottom to make a note of the render time (it's in the footer, just after the bit that shows the number of registered users). Then post here to say (1) which page, (2) phone or desktop, and (3) what the render time was. This will help me build up a picture. NB there are some pages that tend to *always* load slowly e.g. a training log set to show your entire training history; or the pre-race analysis page. I am more concerned with pages that should be pretty snappy, like the home page, or a forum thread etc.

I'd noticed a bit of sluggishness when accessing fetch on my phone. TBH thought it was my rubbish phone and was thinking about using it as an excuse to buy a new one! 😉😂

I noticed it particularly if I clicked on a notification of a friend's training. If it was a big chunk of training, say a long run, that was taking a while to load on my phone. Otherwise, all good as usual thanks.

I'd noticed that as well, both at home and at work, on my laptop and on my phone, so I knew it wasn't just my devices or my network.
Bloody newbies, eh, spoiling it for the rest of us.

Yes, I had noticed it and was thinking of asking here but pleased it's already in hand.
