McGoohan ref your earlier comment that 'Lofty from It Ain't Half Hot Mum was singing in Woolworth's one of the days.'
I do remember that he and Windsor Davis opened the Woolworths in my town in about 1981 - oh! the glamour of celebrity!

I went to Skegness for the first time a couple of years ago, as part of my ongoing retirement tour of the UK. I thought it was quite nice in a seaside sort of way - sand dunes, donkey rides etc - but it was uncomfortably windy on the beach. I was just a bit disappointed that I could not find any "jolly sailor" souvenirs to buy!

We went to Skeg for a week last summer. The kids (10 and 5) loved it. All they need is a beach, the sea, ice cream and fish and chips!

I worked as a burger basher at Butlins one summer while a student. That was... an experience.
We took a Czech exchange student there a few years ago. In February. I don’t think he was impressed.

I was going to regale you of the one and only time I went to Skeggy, only to find that it was, in fact, Margate. Out of season. On a Tuesday.
