Looks like I've been talked into doing the full. It was my first marathon, back in 2007. Hopefully will not burst into tears on crossing the line this time. Definitely an undulating course (particularly the hill at miles 8/17), but what goes up must come down, and the greenway back into town, although a bit tedious, is nice and flat. If I don't thrash my dismal PB (this race, 2007!), I shall be most p'd off.

Agree with all, have done London and Shakespeare and the latter is far superior.

Cheers mate. I know you rate it highly. To be honest its prob a better setting to try for a sub 3 too wouldnt you say?

Does anyone have the course profile anywhere? I'd like to know what I'm in for with this hill...

As Gobi says a couple of good climbs but you will make the time back up on the way down, you will have absolutely no congestion issues here.

I've just realised that, although I've not run that exact route, I've done a slightly shorter off road circuit round there. Looks good, and I now know what to expect, terrain-wise.

It's anti-clockwise on this map, right? shakespearemarathon.org.uk

eL Bee!
Peacey - It's a good sub 3 course - but you have to 'manage' the slight hills and be able to rest/let the brakes off on the corresponding declines.
You're more likely to get an unencumbered run at a sub3 at Stratford too!! Just make sure you are near enough to the front!! I started too far back this year!!
