Jeezo. How did I miss you all at the WHW. My boy got home in the light and as much as one does, in one piece.

I said hello at Kinlochleven HappyG. You were pretty busy as your runner had just come in, and I was about to head out the door to the Tailrace. A half pint my runner wanted, a half pint he was provided with!

We can't have been far away from you katypie, Sam just got in before dark. Good timing as it transpired as we got a magical view of the Ben bathed in a golden sunset glow.

Ah, sorry 57.5DoP, I was rushing a bit at that point - we were concerned about him eating but also keen to get him moving as sub 22 was possible (though to be fair, sub 23 was comfortable so probably no real need to rush as his target was 24 hours!)

Great work everyone - nice to see you katypie, you confused me the flip to beggary though! I assumed you were crewing for Neil and when you said your guy was coming through I thought I was late for mine! 1.5 hours to spare though!

A brilliant day altogether. It's such a wonderful race and great to see so many pals. Some sad drop outs though too, of course. It's a hard event and takes its toll. :-) G

Did your runner have a strong finish HappyG?

Sam ended up with two support runners as we both wanted to do the northern section. Simon was 'good cop' making sure he continued to eat and drink. I was 'bad cop' pushing the pace.

Lol at good cop bad cop. That's definitely a thing. I'm good cop! Yes, great finish - he was strong throughout but must have done particularly well after Lundavra. Actually, his spit times are deceptive. He ran well and was overtaking people but then took really long checkpoint stops - 15-20 mins. So these got tacked onto time of next section meaning it didn't look as quick as it was.

Lairig Mor (KLL to FW) is brilliant isn't it? I actually like Rannoch Moor too (BoO to GC). I got to do the Devil (GC to KLL) which I love too. Actually, I love everything after Beinglas. It's just the Lochside I don't like! :-) G

Lairig Mor is brilliant? If you say so G, I've always hated that bit! I ran from Bridge of Orchy to Glencoe then Altnafeidh to KLL then Lundavra to the finish. shanksi was very strong on the last 2 of those legs, his finish was so quick I could hardly keep up. He slept for an hour at KLL which was a good decision.

Thought the Lairig Mor was a tough shift doing the Mamores half. Lost count of the times I kicked big stones, toe nails were aching.

Ally-C it's the stones that drive me mad, and whenever I've done it it's been rainy so it's like a river bed. Better conditions last weekend but I avoided it just in case.

Yes, and yes! But after I did the Devil in Inov-8 F-lites (ouch, ouch, ouch) I resolved to get some chunkier shoes with toe protection. Hoka Rapa Nuis, you can kick any stone you like and don't feel it.

And if it's raining or has rained then streams of water pouring across the track - no probs, jump in the first one, expecting to be wet and embrace it. My runner Rob said it's nice to get a bit of cooling water from a puddle! I actually taped and vasd up my feet so much that the water really hardly affected anything! :-) G
