Are many people running in Stirling this weekend? I’ll be doing the half and then watching the marathon for a wee while before I come home to watch London marathon. A whole day of running fun :-)

Will look out for you Z. We are likely coming out to watch in the morning at Stirling - depending on Stoosh's legs after the Fling and that the stress of fling supporting doesn't induce labour for me!! We live round the corner from Kings park - 1000m from the finish!

They seem to have changed the start again this year - looks like it is now start/ finish in same place on kings park road at the side of the park. It will be interesting seeing how starting and finishing the half at the same time helps - last year the later start for the half meant frontrunners of marathon were running through the middle of the pack half runners.

With the rejoining point being 7+ HM/ 20+ mara I reckon the marathon frontrunners will have a clear path until a bit past the Uni then will start picking off the tailenders. Last year had quite a few around three hours HM so some marathoners may have a bit of weaving over the last couple of miles. Bit weird for some to be passed at literally over twice their speed perhaps.

Might wander over to spectate the finish - start is too early! Saw SooWoo on a training run in Stirling on Wednesday: after a wee chat she fair stormed ahead :-)

Am trying to remember the roads at the join point. The latter stages were good roads from what I remember.

From the join it's through the Uni: a fair climb and a discombobulating dip, but good surface; then past and round the monument and main roads back to town. The run down after the monument should be fun, but I bet the marathoners especially will be cursing the drag up to cross the Forth. Still, they can enjoy the views of the castle :-)

River fact: that bridge (Taylorton Bridge) is the furthest up crossing of the estuarine Forth. The river however is still tidal for several miles beyond that.

Seems no transport to the start has been provided this year from the other cities. Surprised there has not been more social media outcry over this as there must be quite a few who won't be able to attend.
