Gogsy!
Glad they've 'come clean' - but they could have handled the aftermath a lot better ... even if they did think they were correct.

To be fair it sounds like it was the measurers fault and the course was set up exactly as per the certificate that they had.
I agree their initial reaction was poor and it would have been nice if they could have said what our times would have been at our actual finish avge pace had it been the correct distance.
That would haev been a PB for me

I've just had a look at the Lasswade 10 mile EC page. Tbh it sounds much, MUCH too dangerous for me
"This race is over ten miles which is an extreme test of an individual’s physical and mental strength and has with it the potential for serious injury. All participants are strongly advised to consult their doctor prior to undertaking any exercise programme or running event. Weather in March can be very changeable and entrants could be exposed to risks from dehydration or hypothermia."

I was looking at that a couple of nights ago. I was quite put off by the gravitas - or was it by phrases like "a gentle incline..." "followed by a steep rise..." "a climb between the fifth and six miles..." and "a small hump at around seven miles". Still thinking about it though. Some March Madness for St David's Day.

Oh, it is brutal Nelski, nae doot, just not quite the threat to survival described therein.
(I've survived four attempts in fact. Even though the first one almost killed me ;-).)

I was talking to a former colleague tonight who lives where I do (Airdrie) and we were all bluster and bravado, giving it "Hills don't phase me... when you run in Airdrie, you're used to hills... etc." The town, like Rome, was built on seven hills and I ran them all one Sunday in marathon training (http://onemanrunning.wordpress.com/2014/07/13/7-hills/). But, in my heart I know about hills... the dread, the thrill of topping, the dread... etc. Aye - still thinking about it.
