Ran the BHF 10k in Pollock Country Park Glasgow today. Lovely park and nice event but another short course at 5.94 miles :( This is the third race this year for me that's measured well short. I don't understand how courses are not measured accurately beforehand. Tad annoying.

Not Porty Runners Sandra, it's Alex Jackson who organises it. Alex also organises the East League cross country. I've contacted him and the new year's day run is on this year.

Jonny the GPS measurements are affected by the extensive tree cover in Pollok Parkand could easily account for the missing 0.27 miles.

I'd agree re Pollok. I did the parkrun there when it first started and my Garmin lost some distance. It's measured correctly though. I wouldn't diss a course measurement based on GPS - it can often be out. Anything with sharp corners, or twists and turns too can lose signal.

I have seen an e-mail on my iPhone from GSI admitting that the Scottish Half was long by 292.8m due to a measuring issue between miles 5 and 6 where we turned around the cones. They laid the course out correctly as per the certificate, it wa sthe measurement that was wrong.

Sadly no adjusted times provided though

Victory for the people! (kind of). I can't seem to find their public statement about is so far though.

Actually, that still has the aroma of mature trout - does an IAAF Bronze event rely on a single measurement? If the course was laid out correctly, why was their course map different. I wonder how apologetic their public apology will be?
