Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’m thinking of heading to Auldcathie this weekend, I’ve never done an inaugural so I believe that’s fair enough.

I have done two inaugurals but both were within running distance (3.5 miles to holyrood and 5.5 to oriam) and so I think that’s fair.

Holyrood I reckon is the closest to my front door by a few short metres although technically if I was able to fly like a crow the start line of cramond is closer.

I will ponder on Auldcathie and whether or not I give it a go this week or in a few weeks time.

I see the inaugural information for Auldcathie promises a "special sporting guest" to be official starter. Anyone got an idea who this is ??

It was a paralympian, never caught his name.

It was absolutely mobbed. The course coped well with the congestion though. Two laps mostly all on tarmac, a few wee inclines, nowt serious.

A decent turnout at Dunfermline parkrun this morning. About 160 runners, above the average despite atrocious weather, the absence of the club runners who were saving their legs for the Bathgate xc and the Auldcathie inaugural. I wonder if it’s the New Year resolutions that’s increasing the numbers ?

Was it Derek Rae? He's a regular at Kirkcaldy Beveridge Park. Lovely guy. Glad inaugural went well.

East district XC at Bathgate was fab spectacle. I was on car park marshal duty so only saw men's race. So lucky run held off throughout. :-) G

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Enjoyed Erskine Waterfront today, very close to the Clyde with fine views. Bit narrow in places, I'd be nervous of going hard having seen one of the front runners nearly take out a small child (not really anyone's fault, and the fast runner slammed on the brakes just in time). It could be fast too, totally flat and good underfoot.

I jogged around protecting a sore calf and achieved my personal goal of occupying every finish position from 1-50. There may have been some careful counting at out and back events to fill some of the positions, but it's something to aim at when injured or under the weather.

Creeping up to 50 Scottish events, too.
