I’m not running with my informal group this weekend, but going to club intervals on Thursday.

My club’s view was that the small training bubbles we have set up, which do have more than six members are exempt because this is ‘organized sport’.

Our club has stopped all organised sessions now because they thought it was too complicated and confusing.

I was out with my jogscotland runners tonight, split into groups with a max size of 8, jogleaders were spread a bit thin.

The Scottish Athletics advice seems straightforward enough (I just had to do research for my organised running group), other than the actual limit of 30 but a recommended limit of 15.

Can I check with this good chat above:
Is the "organised sport" bit the key here? So you can do bigger groups etc. through running club. But if you were organising a run, not through running club, is that not still "organised" and "sport"? Or is the key that it is through an affiliated running club? Is the "exemption" then because it is through Scot Athl i.e. a national body? Did SA "negotiate" this with Scot Gov or is it just an interpretation?
My wife has an organised horse even on 26/27 Sep and she's trying to understand if it can go ahead. 8 or 10 people from different households, outdoors, but sharing toilet, kitchen facilities etc. Masks and sanitiser are no problem. BHS (British Horse Society) confirms horse riding is a sport. But she's not doing it "through" a national body.
Hmmm, it's so hard this isn't it?
Hope everyone is well. G

My Hash House Harriers group is not SA affiliated, but we are certainly 'organised' (committee, constitution, 3rd party insurance). I would think that any event that has at least one of those and/ or takes place on a schedule is 'organised'. Then it just has to follow that sport's Scottish guidance.

I believe to be part of an organised event you have to have somebody responsible for covid planning, risk assessments, etc.

Aviemore is going ahead but I have deferred even though this is one of my favourite runs of the year.

Thanks guys, makes sense. So as long as you have your own organisation, you don't necessarily need to be part of, or affiliated to, a national governing body.
