I have the nipper sport that you link to.

I like it, runs smooth and but is steady enough on bumps (someone in the park has a faster looking one, but their kid looks like he is in a blender when he goes over potholes).
Fast up kerbs once you get used to timing the 'dip'.
I looked at Bobs, but cant remember why I didnt get one, probably just the price.

Forward facing is a pain- Ted still isn't that keen on it at close to two years, but they are all like that.

Use from newborn is dicey, i didnt use it until close to six months. To use it earlier than this you are essentially clipping a carseat right on top of it. Clearly more supportive than just the buggy seat, but when you see the nipper being bounced around it looks uncomfortable. I still think you need the head control that comes with age. Unless you are running on a perfect flat track I reckon the shake is too much, whatever the manufacturers say.

Also, clipping the carseat in lifts the centre of gravity quite a lot, so not sure how this affects its handling.

Bought mine for less than the one you linked to from some ebay seller. Brand new ~£209.

Footmuff: bought a dirt cheap fleecy thing- it gets filthy easily from flicking mud/spray, so cheap and washable is good.

Nipper sport sounds like a jolly good option for singletons... Now to find a good double. Need to get Binks to tweet Martin Yelling, I think :-)

I would be a bit wary of going out until the baby could support their head ok - around 6 months usually.

I got a Kelty buggy second hand and I'm a big fan. I bought it from someone who'd moved here from America so not sure if you can get them here. It's made with what looks like bike parts so big wheels, good brakes but the sitting bit is comfy - my baby used to fall asleep so he must have been comfy enough.

Would definitely recommend buying second hand - they're frighteningly expensive new whatever the brand.

Thankfully, my parents have offered to underwrite the cost, regardless. I don't want to take advantage, though.

Our parkrun is all tarmac and almost entirely flat. I don't envisage going flat out.

I live right on the edge of Grimsby, behind the houses opposite us is all fields with trails. I used to go walking with the wife over those with the boy in a sling. Would I be OK walking off-road with this? It's farm tracks, no stiles or anything to negotiate.

Yes. Perfect. We've taken mine up to the lakes and highlands. Also great in deep snow. I'd agree with the six month thing. They need good support. You will know when they are ready

Just found one on the Electronic Bay, only used a few times - looks pretty good in the photos. I've put in a bid.
