Unfortunately I think the direction to turn is simply part of the text instructions, but if it's in a consistent format it should be ok to pick that out and determine if it's a turn left / right, a bear left / right or a straight ahead (which it sometimes seems to put in at roundabouts) You could also use the directions to create a printable turn list. Probably more useful for cyclists (who can tape it to a handlebar bag) or walkers than runners.

Ones which make me laugh every time I read them. Ta.

You could also allow using cycle directions as an option instead of walking directions. Just thoughts. Do you want them here or as feedback?
