That is brilliant Red Squirrel. Wonder if you can ask the council to take away your bins and ask for a rebate?

That's great Red Squirrel. How long did it take to get to zero plastic?

You must have decent scaffies then. They've clearly thought that you forgot and didn't want your bin overflowing.

I know. Above and beyond the call of duty. I've told them to stop and was wondering whether to get a smaller bin as less of an eyesore but that would just commission more plastic.

I've been plastic-free for quite a while now; maybe fully for a year. It helped that my organic bag providers were keen to assist and found thistle-based plastic-style bags to put their delicate leaves in - salad, spinach etc. They are amazing. It's just me too so I haven't got other family members to cajole.

I've been missing coconut yoghurt a fair bit so that project's next on my list to make my own. Keep on keeping on freebirds!

I'll never manage plastic-free, family members won't stand for it unfortunately.

We were at a race this evening and afterwards Mr Carp was going to buy me a cup of tea. He was very fed up when I insisted on going to the car for my little reusable cup and tried to persuade me to get a Styrofoam one despite the car being less than five minutes walk away. He didn't have to walk it.

Fortunately on the trip I made last weekend my friends were as keen on reusable cups as me. No questions as to why did I have one. Very useful re reduced mess, carbon footprint, paying less in cafes and motorway service stations!

Excellent Chramies.

Carps keep holding out there. Many years ago, Mr was irritated with me when I used to do the same. I did snap back at him about it is my issue and if it makes me feel like am saving the world by walking 5 mins to pick up my cup then back off!

He used to refuse to bring a cup muttering about health & hygiene. I used to bring one for him when out with him.....then one day he came back from coffee saying how much better it was using his own cup and that he received a discount!!! Now he's a regularly BYOR cup everywhere!

That sounds familiar Run Free. Sometimes you have to treat partners like they're kids; then suddenly they get it.

I had a nice chat with a lady on the till in Waitrose. I popped in to get my free coffee and some bread rolls on the way to work. She admired my reusable cup and also the recycled little glass pots which contained my lunch which she could see in my rucksack. We then had a chat about recycling and plastic generally. Yes, it's a supermarket with plastic all over the place but staff do seem genuinely interested when you point out other uses for their glass jars etc. A little sharing/influencing can go a long way.
