Done. but ... I think it would be useful to split the question in to three categories...
- races where I have chased a PB
- races which I have completed for training purposes (e.g. Half Marathons @ Marathon Pace)
- races where I have run as fast as I can but a PB wasnt the aim (e.g. Cross Country races and races of non-standard distances - area relays etc).

Welcome to the forum :-)

I've been a bit selfish with this new column really. I might look at expanding its remit in future, but for now, its purpose is to help me get a much clearer view of large amounts of training data. The question is deliberately simple, because I want to be able to investigate the sort of training that people do when they are aiming to beat a (fairly recent) existing time. Before I added this column, it was difficult to know what people had in mind when racing - but this makes it a lot clearer. I hope it will reveal some interesting stats that will benefit everyone.

Will it totally screw up your results if people don't fill it in? I don't "train" as such - ok I did last year for the mara as it would have been silly not to but it wasn't any of this tempo, intervals, fartlek stuff just miles on feet! Call me shallow but I just run for enjoyment and enter races for the bling and the social so PBs don't really come into it, though I'll happily take one if things go right on the day ;)

Are you some sort of special envoy from the SAP thread? :-)

All it'll mean is that I have a bit less data to work with. What I'm aiming for is to look at the training done by runners in the build up to PB attempts - so each tick is an extra set of data. But the ticks are flying in nicely, so fingers crossed I'll have some useful stuff.

I could take up that post if need be yes :) We are very proud of our lack of speed but wouldn't want to hinder the progress of science on Fetch! :p
