Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh dear CS. That's not very good.
Any statements of reschedule etc.

Meanwhile - a nice coincidence this morning for me. My April taper mileage totals 26.2.

That's a bummer CS I hope it doesn't spill over into the ports / trains as it often does do you have your back up plan in place , I think you mentioned it a few weeks ago ?

They say you can modify your flights for free, however when you try to do that, it says no flights are available. my dad is a smart cookie though and has realised that you can still buy flights on the Friday red eye flight, so he's reserved us two seats on there for the princely sum on a tenner. so worst comes to worst we can buy those flights.

other option is to fly to London tomorrow evening, stay in London, and get the train first thing Friday morning. that will be, as you can imagine, expensive.

my excited countdown was at "one sleep!!" but now it's more likely to be 2 :( but as long as we still get there... and it does give me more than tonight to pack... so every cloud...

That's pants C-s. Hope your flights will be okay tomorrow but good that you have a backup plan. We're flying out on Friday via Gatwick. So spending time in London before hopping over to Paris.

its also such a bummer I cant give you my spare seat on Eurostar cos my OH cant travel but they wont let you change name on tickets or give a refund which seems a silly situation as there will be an empty seat they wont re-sell which they could or charge an admin fee to change the name , either way they would be quids in :-(

Hope it all works out CS - it will, of course, but I hope it all works out as smoothly as is possible. Talk about 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'!

Spleen
On the subject of nice coincidences, as I ran under Bristol's Cumberland Basin overpass last night, I looked up and someone had graffitoed "PARIS" on the underside. Just that one word, no adornment. I'm taking it as a good omen : D

definitely a good omen spleen :)

that's my flight been cancelled. we hopefully have seats reserved on Friday's 6am flight (my dad reserved them and he's currently on a plane up from London), but we haven't actually booked the flight (just paid to reserve the seats) so I'm not counting those chickens yet.

alternative was a 6am tomorrow which I would have loved to take but have an important meeting at work I can't miss :( then it's 5pm on Friday or a flight on Friday morning via Amsterdam, though that will probably be full by now. I wanted to just book that, but if I had then not taken it and managed to get the 6am flight, they wouldn't have let me take my return flight.

and naturally if I do manage to get to paris another way and cancel my outbound, they will be giving no refund. sigh.

Does travel insurance cover such merde? (Sorry if I'm being naive - and I know I might be since I know that they are strict; those neoliberal bast@rds having declined to pay out on a similar trip to me when my late mum was very ill.)
