Hi all bit of a question for you. I have developed a pain in my right foot after Sunday's race. Yesterday morning my toes were sore (not surprising really) but by yesterday afternoon the pain had moved to the ball of my foot.

It is very slightly swollen in that on my left foot you can see bones, but can't on my right foot you cant. There is also very slight darkening on the top of my foot.

Today it is same ball of foot sore and rather uncomfortable if I clench my toes the top of my foot hurts. It is painful to walk on it (now I am up and about) and even sitting I can feel it aching and it feels hot.

I can walk on it and move my toes so don't think anything is broken is it worth getting it checked out as hubby is suggesting or see how it is in a few days?

Trying not to be paranoid that I have picked up a niggle after I was bragging recently that I have managed over 12 months injury free for the first time ever!

Thanks

Not sure sorry. I often have a sore ball of foot and a burning sensation which is worse in certain shoes but have never had the swelling/darkening or the pain in the top of my foot. Hope you get it sorted.

Mortons Neuroma?

Perhaps start by resting for a couple of days and seeing if the pain dissipates.

got sent to the docs by occ health and he said it is either a bad strain or might be stress fracture. Got to rest it for a few days and see if it gets any better (fingers crossed) and if not I'll be off for an x-ray.

The pain is in 2nd & 3rd metatarsal area and the ball of my foot under same toes. The swelling is worse since I've finished work and have been on my feet, its been one of those days where I have been too busy to move from my desk.

I have just got into boot camp classes too - no excuse not to get on with my studying then.

I'm back and wondering if anyone might have some thoughts on this one for me.

It is almost 2 weeks since the Coastal run when I hurt my foot. I did a run last saturday which wasnt too bad but I was running more on my heel rather than ball of my foot but afterwards it didnt feel that bad. Monday I did 1.3m and it was painful so cut run short and gave up and decided maybe it wasnt well after all. Other than that and kettlebells yesterday all I've done is a couple of shortish walks

been back to the docs for a pre arranged check up on it he seemed to be at a loss and putting me down for physio but I think we all know that can take forever. The pain is in my 2nd - 3rd toes and swelling is still apparent. I did have it x-rayed last week and it is not showing any fracture.

When I walk / am on feet I am aware of the pain, at a loss of what to do next. I am resting it as much as possible and I know running is well out of the question, just not sure what I need to do to rehabilitate & fix it, so any advise will be hugely appreciated.

Could be caused by anything... even as far away as your left calf, which could in turn be caused by something in your back. Physio should ask you about anything that's hurt anywhere, feel about in it a bit, and think about how they could be connected.

If you can pay for a private physio appointment it could save you weeks/months of treating symptoms and forgetting to refreeze bags of peas!

geordiegirl - your pain sounds just like mine last year and mine turned out to be a stress fracture. It was initially diagnosed at a&e as potential motors neuroma but I had an x ray and was called back 2 weeks later and advised it was a stress fracture (pain had got worse during the intervening 2 weeks despite keeping the weight off it by using crutches).
