Hi, firstly I apologise for the long post!!. I have had a sore ankle for the past 6-9 months, sometimes it was swollen, very painful to touch, okay running, more painful when walking, some days no pain, some days really bad. I self medicated on Ibuprofen and stretches for posterior tendonitis. Eventually went to the Dr who sent me for an x-ray, called for the result and was told to make an appointment. So the result of this is I have wear and tear on my ankle and have osteoarthritis. The Dr I saw was a trainee GP, he said I might need physio or an operation and gave me a number for NHS Inform Muscular Skeletal department. I left feeling a bit confused, he at no point said not to run or not to do anything. My training has been lighter this year so far due to the weather and a bad cold but just wondered if anyone else has this, I was hoping to get back to half marathon level by summer.

Fraggle is dealing with this at the moment. She's usually found on the "220" thread.
I hope you'll have more information to be going on with when you've seen the musculoskeletal practitioner.
