How can they say that? If nothing is added or, more importantly, taken out, then all the contaminants added 250 MY ago are still there, as shown by the colours that are not NaCl (white crystals).

But yes, it doesn’t really make sense with something like this. I guess they just have pick an arbitrary date.

Actually I have to correct myself - I looked up the regulations and cooking salt is exempt from needing a best before date. Maybe it’s an image from another country? 🤷♀️
