Clapping here rather loud - only realised it was 8pm when I got a big cheer as I went out to close up the greenhouse ;)

I thought I’d make a VE Day celebratory mini afternoon tea for each set of parents, to be delivered by OH tomorrow. He is currently shopping for ingredients and has phoned me 6 times. Given what he’s been able to buy it is going to be a bit eclectic and with no homemade sausage rolls, or clotted cream for the scones. Oh well, I guess it’s the thought that counts!

What a sweet thought Paula. C9 has made some Oreo cupcakes for coffee and cake tomorrow. We have a street party which is my idea of horror but the neighbours are sweet and it’s not like we can pretend to be going anywhere. I reckon I can manage ten minutes most of which I’ll spend looking at a hedge. And possibly blogging. Or grinning with painful embarrassment

I don’t think anything is happening in our street, which suits me fine. I know my mum is pretty down at the moment and thought the tea might cheer her up a bit. And if I’m doing for one set of parents I can’t leave the others out, even though OH doesn’t think they’ll really ‘get’ it.

The social distance means the friendly neighbour will walk up and down our wide pavements chatting to each house. Which I guess if you’ve not spoken to anyone is lovely. But I feel very trapped by the whole concept

I'm not sure what the point of sitting in our front garden is - to the front there is husband's van and can't see to the left due to next door's caravan - and to the right I suppose I could shout across the road to Val, but she probably wouldn't hear me over her hedge. And yet my neighbours are making such a fuss about this on our FB group

Brilliant - wash the car and pretend to be getting involved :)

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
