Roe deer ate all of the flowers from my Geranium magnificum last year.

You can see the last of them in her mouth.
Wouldn't touch the G. psilostemon, though.

Same problem (as Hanneke) with neighbouring cats using freshly-prepared seed beds as litter trays. Tried lots of things... The most successful (though not totally successful) is lots of prickly sticks (prunings from roses and cotoneasters) laid criss-cross over the ground.

I have used citrus peels, I eat quite a lot of citrus as they hate the scent. Added bonus: slugs go on the citrus perls, so I then chuck them in the compost to replace by fresh. It sort of works. Re bees: I was hoping they might keep the cats away!!! And the neighbour at bay... But he may just complain about bee keeping being anti-social or something...

Worth trying, Hanneke. Real bees or a recording?

I have been trying to get a swarm out of a friend's gate all week... Real bees! So I better not antagonise my neighbour. His issue with bonfires caused him to have to move from his previous home, so mine obviously triggered something in him, which he is projecting on me... He isn't even that close... House, tennis court and washing line about 500 metres from my bonfire! And he sent me a photograph of it drifting over his wildlife pond at the very bottom of his land, furthest from the house. It was other people's fires that were the issue 🙄 I did find it very upsetting. He was extremely aggressive Up until then, I thought they were nice... For utter townies... Problem: "I have money so I know better"

Has your neighbour not heard of Guy Fawkes? You can’t have fireworks without a good bonfire surely 🙂 I’m sorry for your predicament though in having someone living so close who’s of another world .

I'm not alone in the deer predicament then Jackdaw 🤣 Fencing (6' - they are only tidly deer, and I cant take credit for the fencing plan - in use by most if my neighbouring farms who are trying to have a veg garden!) is the plan Hanneke - just frustrating trying to organise the posts... Having moaned at length about the herd of deer; they are a privilege to see so close and most days 🙂 Such beautiful animals 🙂
My experience re bees and cats - my cats are not phased by the hives. I worry most because the idiot felines chase and try to eat my bees!! 🙄🤣

Oh deer that isn't going to work then, for my neighbour's cats... And our climate isn't suited to a citrus hedge
Have a look at McVeigh Parker: clipex fencing. It is what I used for my chicken run, to keep mr Fox out I used deer posts, and for my rabbit netting where I could not clip it on existing fencing. Their roles of various types of galvanised netting/wire are also good value. Most people do not think of going to them direct as non trade but it pays off! Call your local depot to discuss. It will be expensive enough to qualify for free delivery too!

P.s. they are galvanised posts! 25 years guaranteed, very easy to install: just ram them in with a post rammer. You need to slam some rubber into the pist rammer first, to stop extreme vibration and noise from metal on metal...
