Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

They decimate my Solomon’s seal too but I tend to let them get on with it.

My asparagus has only just started spearing, which is late. I know asparagus dislikes getting its feet wet but I think it has been too dry for it.

Yes, we get Solomans Seal sawfly too, but TBH I’m not too fussed about those plants. We inherited them with the garden and they seem sturdy enough to cope with the sawflies.

Same here, but after the finish flowering, so I too let them get on with it.

Loads and loads of different ones. Your question reminds me that, now I will be growing medicinal plants properly, I need to create a materia medica of all plants I grow... On top of that I also forage, for things like hawthorn and elder. I have planted a mixed native medicinal hedge though, as boundary on one long side of my food forest.
It contains:
Hawthorn
Blackthorn
Dogrose
Elder
Wild pear
Crabapple
Wayfairing tree
Cherryplum
A bit of hazel
Raspberries
A rowan tree.
Some trees are grown in this hedge too. Everything is edible, medicinal or both.

I largely grow nervines, anti-inflammatories and anti-microbials.

Nah, will be fine. Just make sure you water well and keep watering until clearly established.
