I've had a few goes at getting a ceanothus bush going - each time it's just died off after a few months. Annoying, because there are some beautiful specimens iaround the area where we live! Columba, as bad as housework but far better for the soul! I have microscopic cucumbers! (Narrower than the actual tendrils the plants are waving about at the moment!!) |

Our holly hedge is the bane of our existence!! It just keeps on growing and has to be kept cut back or it would take over completely!!!

Just catching up; Nice pond agree with stump grinding how about beech as an alternative tall hedge, keeps a lot of leaves over winter, or holly? Yes, just like housework but so much nicer ![]() |

Actually I was once dumped into a holly hedge by my horse on a cross country competition so I can concur with the vicious comment! ![]() |

I'm looking for a bit of advice please. I've got a blank, NE facing wall and would like to grow climbers up it. Any recommendations for flowering climbers that will flourish in the shade? |

I've got a climbing hydrangea in a similar position Sarah. That might work? I could even try and do you a cutting if you like? |

A couple of weeks late, I've planted some tomatoes in a growbag. Usually they go in a bit late, so although I have good tall plants, the flowering may be late August into September meaning the fruit is often too late to ripen properly. So how can I say they are late this year? Well, they are only 30-40 cm high, and already flowering. I also have Minibel ones, still in trays, not even pots, and that are also starting to flower. And there's also been a lot of rain (70 cm over two days) just when the raspberries and strawberries are ripening. |
