I should add here that MrsHL made last year's mince pies with mincemeat she made in 2015. Rum and sugar make an excellent preservative.

Late to game here but love mince pies. Recommendations for best ones to get? Locally there are the following shops: Morrisons, Sainsburys local, Aldi and M&S.

Would travel to next town to add Waitrose, Lidl, Asda, Bettys and Tesco if it was really worth my time to.

Asda mince pies generally not worth the effort - but it's my local so needs must. M&S had excellent ones last year, not had a test run yet this year though.
