I've heard the underpasses can be tough on the legs - how many do we go through?

I did the Milton Keynes Half this year and there were quite a few underpasses/switchbacks. I'm not sure how similar two courses are, I'll have to check. I'm hoping to run the marathon in 2:45-3:00. My friend and training partner just ran London in 2:44:56 and we have very similar PBs at all other distances so the pressure is now on me!

The underpasses didn't bother me too much, infact I quite liked them. The climb near 20 miles certainly did bother me though.

I've just been looking at the course profile; about a 50-60m sustained climb from 18.5 to 21.5 miles, just when you really need it. Trying to comfort myself with the thought that my last run included that much climb in less than half a mile and I survived that.

Well thats halfway through the working week and the good news is the weather is showing light rain now; I'll take that.
Got an interesting pre marathon injury yesterday, 2 hours after my run my jaw muscles started aching and today I'm struggling to chew. What the hell?

Let's hope you can still take on the gels they're doling out at the later aid stations!

The Milton Keynes Festival of Speed half marathon had a MONSTER hill right at the very end (in the last km in fact). I wonder if the hill in the marathon is the same one? I thought MK was meant to be pancake flat so it certainly caught me out!

Fear not.
The sustained climb in the Festival of Running was up from the Canal to the City Centre through Campbell Park.
Looking at Monday's course, there don't seem to be any noteworthy inclines. Certainly, no Campbell Park

Just run the first leg of the Les Irvine Memorial Relay (4 x 1.1 miles). I didn't dare run absolutely flat out ( in the final week of marathon taper), but didn't want to let my team down either. Ended up dong my 1.1 miles in 7.14 mins (ie sub 7mins a mile place) Enjoyed it.

Tim, I am more than happy to chat if you want some company. I am worried about the crowds at the start.
