I have also had an appointment to attend long covid clinic where I will get a chance to discuss and have support for all the issues that arise from it. Could be really helpful.

Keep offloading TT - I've found counselling to be very helpful, but you still need to talk to others as some days you just need that (I count posting here as talking as its way to share thoughts etc.)

Hann that sounds very scary. No wonder you are avoiding the shops.

Curly exactly! I am now mask exempt, but I still restrict occasions that trigger me: i.e. the supermarket. Thankfully, I don't need to go there very often, especially now I stopped eating chocolate to deal with my mental health ;)

TT: you are not offloading, you are sharing, which is helpful for all of us and mutually supportive.

I did read the mind thing as you did have a meeting set up. 14 Feb: Valentines day! A date with your mind to show it how much you love it.

I am over-excited: electrician is here! Just hung my beloved late father's reading lamp in my new building. More books are being moved, my ikea drawers have arrived. Going to cancel my client: today is ME day!

Bloody hell ! That sounds horrendous! Hopefully that kind of hysteria which was around earlier in the pandemic has died down and you would be treated with more sensitivity these days - or am I just being naïve? It is depressing how often well-meaning people who think they are doing something “for your own good” end up doing totally the wrong thing. Things would be so much better if people just listened to the person having the issue rather than making decisions for them

Yes, indeed CD!
All that was required was someone to stay with me, taking me outside. It never takes more than 5 minutes, with good, deep breaths, to get the HR back to normal...
But hysteria is the word: all they thought about was covid and how I was "spreading it" as obvs unwell so has to be Covid...
That was at the time you saw people with plastic bags around their feet, marigolds on their hands, full waterproofs, goggles, mask...

I find this difficult to say, but my experience with the NHS is actually not always that brilliant: they are eager to tick things off but do not listen and tend to jump to conclusions...

I think they are trying their best H. Problem is the pressures of targets and public sector bureaucracy. I'm very lucky I think in Carmarthenshire and my care since being admitted before Christmas has been amazing having not used the NHS for years bar for my knee op. My only gripe is that they always seem keen to say we are testing for this but don't think you have the problem. I have had the problem every time 🤣 Why not just say nothing 🤔

Hope all is well and no news is good news. Big panic/anxiety attack in Co-op earlier so slept most of the afternoon. Train journey tomorrow 🙏

TT, I have had to pay for most of my care privately to get it done. After being unable to function with torn cartilage in my right knee for 8 months, my GP suggested, if I had a spare £3500, to go private as on the NHS it was another 6 months wait.
So I did the quick sums: free lance: unable to work for 8 months already... Best get that done then. Took 3 weeks, another 2 post op and I was back working...
Same last year with my shoulder: 2 months of agony on the sofa, NHS did sweet FA... Private MRI, surprisingly cheap at £340 and 2 weeks later:
Fractured shoulder
Subluxated bicep tendon
Separated shoulder, i.e. clavicle had come away from the top of the shoulder
And a torn rotator cuff
And signs of recent dislocation.
Indeed, something you deal with yourself, at home, with some otc painkillers 🙄🙄🙄

OK, they did give me physio after that, but I had already shelled out £45/week on private treatment for 2 months... While also unable to work...
