Got used to the local air yesterday (and the driving route for Saturday) with a family "stroll" up Tryfan yesterday. Probably not ideal taper activity, but survived without turning an ankle or banging a knee on a sharp rock; it was a last minute decision based on the weather / half term, a well recommended scramble though if you're into that sort of thing.
Still not managed to shift the rainy / windy forecast for Saturday though. Looks like we'll be getting a headwind down from PyP to Bedgellert, maybe (depending on how it swirls around down there) we could have a tail-ish wind past the lake up to Waunfawr?

A gale behind for Waunfawr would be welcome but it looks generally typical weather for us. I’m heading over tomorrow via llanberis to pick up number etc and then down to Black Rock Sands for the weekend 😀

I saw yesterday that they are using pacers too for the race. Is that a new thing? Would be interested to see what pacing they adopt. Last time I gave myself a simply pacing chart breaking the race into four segments - up to PyP, down to Bedgeller, out to Waunfawr, and then to the finish. I grabbed the strava files of other runners who had done it on previous years and then tried to find some reasonable "averages" from them to get a sense of how hard / easy to take it up PyP to avoid losing too much time there, but also to avoid getting carried away.
Would be interested to see what the pacers are planning.

There was a 4 hour pacer in 2010, someone I "knew" from the RW forums. I can't remember whether he was an official pacer or pacing a group unofficially, and I don't know how he paced it because although I did just under 4 hours I did my own thing (went through halfway in 1:45 then got mightily smacked down by Waunfawr). I can imagine it being very challenging to pace.

Pacing for a 4hr Eryri worked well for me with these averages (taking into account the elevation):
Miles 1-5: @9:40 Miles 6-13: @8:10 Miles 14-22: @8:50 Miles 23-25: @12:10 Miles 26-finish: @8:20
Halfway ~ 1:54. Finish 3:59:50

This was the little printed pacing card that I planned for 2017. Missed it by 7 minutes in the end.
Actual pacing for a 3:32 and bits. 1) 4.59m - 36:43(8:00/m) 149/169bpm 406cal 7.5/9.2mph 2) 8.31m - 1:00:02(7:14/m) 151/165bpm 485cal 8.3/9.98mph 3) 8.83m - 1:11:25(8:05/m) 150/160bpm 457cal 7.42/8.5mph 4) 4.48m - 44:22(9:54/m) 144/162bpm 239cal 6.06/8.47mph

After moaning about the weather, couldn't really have had that much better today. So much so that I ended up overdressed; went for my normal club vest over fetch t-shirt and had to strip down on the climb out of Bedgellert to get rid of the t-shirt - and then carry it to the end!
Hope everyone had a good run - I missed my "A" standard by just under 2 minutes but really pleased overall with dipping under 3:27.

Well done Larkim!
I agree, was a bit warmer than I’d reckoned for - could have done with a few more of the forecast showers.
All in all a good, but hard day out around the mountain, and a tenth coaster for the collection 😁
