The registration secretary is lovely. She was very helpful when I asked to switch from full to half a few weeks ago. Very prompt response to my emails :-)

I thought it would be Friday too.....

Jonny No Fetch is contemplating switching from the full to the half, if he doesn't get chance to do a long run tonight....he's working 7am-9pm, so I think an email may be winging it's way to the lovely Registration Secretary GM described :-)

OK...made my decision, I'm sticking with the half-marathon as I'm already booked to run Chester the week after...

depending on the weather and how I feel will depend on my target for the day....original plan was a 2 mile w/u, then 10 @ target MP, followed by easy mile w/d, but if weather is good and I feel fine I may have a little dig at my PB. ;-)

I don't usually get nervous about races but the nerves are already starting to go a wee bit for Mabo! I think PBing at the Great North Run at the weekend has added a bit of personal pressure for PBing in this race too and a wee bit of a concern that I might have maybe gone too hard on Sunday and my legs might not have recovered in time.

Am I being a bit daft?!? ;-)

Yep...you're being daft. Don't worry about the PB...if the weather is good then Mablethorpe should be in the bag for you as, unlike GNR it's pancake flat....and to be fair, what's the worst that could happen...? You run the race and don't PB...!!! That's not the end of the world, especially as you've just nailed you H/M PB anyway.

Relax, enjoy and run well :-)

Thanks! :) I think that's exactly what I needed! You're spot on, it's not the end of the world but the odds are in my favour with the course etc.

Looking forward to it!

Just had a wee nosey and see that you got a new PB in the GNR too - congrats! :)

yep, t'was a battle tho' as I arrived late, had a pleasant run up to the late baggage bus for my warm-up and then wasn't allowed in my starting pen...!!! Spent the whole race weaving in-and-out, side-to-side, and accelerating-slowing-accelerating....my legs were battered at the end, and I've been nursing a hamstring strain all week.

Mablethorpe is down as a MP training run for me...but like I said earlier, I may be tempted to have a proper dig at my H/M PB if the weather is good and I'm feeling fine. Will make the call on the morning of the race... :-)
