Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hope the hamstring recovers. I'm not too good at being a bit sensible and using a race as a training run! Let's hope for a good day all round :)

indeed...after a few very easy days and lots of self-massage (the hamstring before anyone comments ;-) ) the hamstring is feeling much better. Got my last LSR before Chester scheduled for tomorrow morning...then it's taper down, and focus my training on 'tuning into' my marathon pace. :-)

Looking forward to this. Im a little undercooked on long runs with only one 18 miler in August, but have had a very encouraging September, with a 2:21 (PB) 20 mile race, a 22 miler then last w/e a 20 miler but pinged the last mile out in 7:28 and now into taper. Encouraging, but I think I really needed another couple of outings around 18-20 miles in August to be really confident. Having said that, I have also done plenty of long bike rides and a couple of triathlons which have lasted 5 hours so there's been decent endurance training even if on two wheels rather then pure running.

Marathon PB from 2008, also Mablethorpe, is 3:13 and I reckon it's about 50:50 as to whether I can lower it, and perhaps about a 1 in 4 that I can get below 3:10.

Anyone also expecting something around 3:15 ish - found in 2008 it got very lonely but fell into a group all going for sub 3;15 which helped hugely.

Also have the OH, and a mate there - all going for their mara PB's (based on my view it;s a great PB course). I'll be in deep do-dos if they don;t PB, but have to consider they may PB and I'll come up short.

Currently struggling with some sort of ear infection that causing me a bought of vertigo at the moment...see the doctor tomorrow. Fingers crossed he/she will sort me out and I'll be given 'the all clear' to run at the weekend...getting a little anxious at the moment though, as I'm down to run Chester marathon on the 9th, so I need this sorting. :-(

Waves, sea and sand!

The current forecast says Sun, 19 degrees and a slight cooling breeze (http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/7days.asp?zipcode=mablethorpe).

That's about as good as it gets at this time of year right :-)
