Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

but we'd be OK Baz with our Abingdon times from Oct 2019.

Interesting though to see that they have just cancelled the 2020 Ride London today and are not carrying forward entries to 2021 (instead everyone just gets a refund). Indeed the tone of their message implies it's by no means certain that it will take place in 2021.

and of course my thoughts are undermined by the fact that there's a new sponsor next year so just moving the event over lock-stock might not be easy.

See, told you I had no proprietary insight!

Ride London never offered any deferral to next year though did they? London has offered deferral to April 2021 previously so all hell will break loose if people lose the opportunity to run because they didn't take up the deferral on the basis that it might proceed in October.

Looking at VLMs mission/vision/guiding principles etc I don't see them cancelling places for whenever the next event will be. I think broadly, if you had a place in the 40th race you'll get a place when the mass event is next run.

Selfishly as WW says I don’t mind as I have gfa either way but some could miss out given timing of their qualifier and that would be tough.

I don't think they'd not count the GFAs that people used to enter this year's event - I don't see what good it would do them to do so.

agreed*2: imagine the Twitter response if they cancelled places that folks had got hold of for 2020 and re-opened the ballot / other entry systems ahead of the new 2021 date!!

CARNAGE....

It's already stated that if you got in via GFA and can't run on October you can defer but your qualifying time has to be within the new time period. They may change the ruling, given that the race calendar this year collapsed

Wonder how many GFA runners will turn up in Nowhere-Near-GFA-Condition-At-All (present company excluded, obviously)!
