Ultra: ultra courage; ultra stamina; ultra strength; most of all, ultra self belief.

Well done, all who rose to the challenges of the 50 & the 100. :)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I should have kept going and got timed out at Ambleside. As it was I was at Kentmere until 2:45 waiting for transport back to Coniston. I'm very grateful that the organisers do get us back to base.

Descending after Gatesgarth my right shin felt like every step it was being sawn in half. This restricted my 'pace' to about one mile an hour.

It was one hell of an adventure and learnt loads.

Massive congratulations to all finishers and non-finishers.

As early as Buttermere some people looked in a bad way. It really was brutal out there. Especially in those conditions. There appears a far bit of path erosion after Howtown due to the rain and probablt over a thousand runners churning the path into slippery mud.

Tough luck Fenners you were sticking to plan well until then - given the conditions that's awesome :)

I hope the shin isn't going to put you out too long x

Brave attempt Fenners. Tough luck to be so close to a finish and an injury scupper things.

Rosehip, some will think it's excuses but nothing went right. Everything conspired against me after Blencathra.

I'm having over one month rest from impact. I will swim, cycle and do core.

As I have no races in the diary I'm at a complete lose what to do next. The only potential is either Highland Fling or West Highland Way.

Thanks NE. Some times no matter what you plan and prepare the uncontrollables have a big effect.

How about trying your hand (feet) at a long but flatter one?

Not sure my heart is in any of the alternatives bar Fling and WHW.
