Better shuffle off and watch the "free cup & buff" video then. Last year I didn't use the neat collapsible cup that I'd bought for the event and instead went for a standard camping cup (a more sturdy half pint design) - it worked well and I left each checkpoint drinking a big mug of tea for a few minutes walk before running again - quicker than stopping inside each cosy checkpoint.

Oh, and I'm planning on getting to Coniston early on the Friday (10am?) so would be up for Coffee and cake if others are around for elevenses (after pitching a tent and registering maybe?)

Not sure on my logistics until Thursday. I'd like to get to Coniston fairly early on Friday.

I hope your faith in me isn't misplaced FR!

I'm in good shape, I just need a hefty dose of luck to go with it. A lot can happen in 105 miles :-o

A lot can certainly happen on that course, KinkyS, far better runners than me have failed to get round.

I'm most concerned about Buttermere to Sail Pass. In daylight it is easy, but at night after already a very hilly marathon under your belt it is a right bar-steward.

Rather than a schedule, my intention is similar to Kinky. However I am looking at maintaining a consistent average pace. I know there will be some fluctuations innit, especially between Howtown and the summit of the Garburn pass, but hopefully the sections before and after that should balance it out. It would be nice to have a strong finish. Similar to the 55k 3 weeks ago, but without the massive bad patch.

I am also preparing myself for a slow drag to the finish if it all goes tits up.

Cutback week, 42 miles plus some cycling, all low heart rate stuff and today's run was only just over 5 miles.

I suspect my problems will start after Braithwaite, when all the road starts. Up to that point is the best of the course IMO. That'll probably see if I really want it or not!
