That is fantastic KinkyS. I was gutted that I missed you at Dalemain, I must have only just moved to the start area of the #utld50 when you ran in to the checkpoint. And then I was asleep after my 11pm-5am shift on the finish line. Huge congratulations, almost without fail the 100ers looked absolutely fooked at the finish. One poor guy that was aiming for a 24-hour finish was in a really bad way, hope he is recovering well.

Another year, another DNF. Starting to fall out of love with this event. My unhappy story...

That's amazing Kinky S, I had the other situation that I was mistaken for 100 runner. This was at Dalemain when I'd only done the 4 mile loop, the guy apologised and said I looked fine, he thought I was a 100 runner because I was using poles.

Flanker I will read that soon. I admire you for even attempting the 100.

Sounds like a fairly brutal edition, congratulations to all, hope you recover well.

Iā€™m tempted to return for a 3rd go myself if I can get through the entry scramble - despite the weather lottery, I still feel like I can go a wee bit quicker ..

Phew! Have finally caught up in the words on this thread. Also worked out that I saw Bobs in the middle of Coniston as we both finished (but me on the diet version of lakeland).

Can't believe that the full-fat version of the race had a 49% DNF rate (sorry, Flanker) which is brutal considering that anyone on the start line of the L100 is completely bonkers.

_andy, I saw a lot of people pulling out because they were "tired" or "spent". I might just still be being grumpy, but I think a lot of people who enter 100s need to learn to HTFU. Unless you're at the pointy end you are going to be out there well into a second night and, yes, you're going to be tired, sore and sleepy. That's part of the "fun"

All three times I've dropped it was because I would have been timed out.

And the last time getting timed out at Mardale Head could habe been dangerous

_andy I worked out you passed me just not long before the start of the drop into Coniston. I remember an "Andy" passing and offering encourangement (I was with a lad from NI) and wondering at the time if it was you but I couldn't recall your surname or get my head around saying is "underscore Andy from Fetch" before you had gone, my brain just wasn't working fast enough at that point!
