Sorry, didn't say thanks for your answer HowFar. And you have told me before where your Lough is. Lovely location. Big too!
There isn't a thread for sailing, is there? I don't see it in related and when I did a "Search" it just came up with some of my own posts on other threads!
Anyone be interested in such a thread? I'll prob just start one and see! G

Did have a lovely paddleboard, a week past Sunday. Last of the fine weather, though was getting breezier already and by end of the hour it was hard work. Worked out well though because I chatted to the sailors, and that's how come last two Monday nights I have done 2 hours of dinghy sailing at same location. Fabby! G

Nice one. We sail (well, MrsC sails rather well and I mostly support these days) and the FlyingScotsman became a RYA-certified dinghy instructor last week.

We’ve spent the past 2 days looking at white-horse waves surging down St Mary’s Loch and wondering when we might get to paddle. Hopefully today might be the day.

That's main reason I've picked up sailing again AC. Paddleboard or canoe when still (and my model planes!) and sail when windy!
Well done to FS doing his RYA certs. I've just signed up for a 2 day level 2 course end of the month. Will do level 3, then hope to get instructor certification too (probably by next summer is the goal).
Do you sail at Tayport at all AC? A guy I was speaking to at Lochore is at Tayport and his daughter has just done her RYA instructor ticket too - Euan and Rebecca? G

Lovely pic Mandy. I wouldn't want to take a paddleboard or the canoe out on anything with a current or very windy. Kayak is doable as you can paddle it much faster and is less affected by wind. But I don't have a kayak! G

Jamie did his qual at Dundee so it might have been the same course; there was a crowd of young adults all on the same course. He’s got a part-time job with the Ancrum outdoors centre based in and around Dundee. He’s hoping to pick up some paid dinghy instructing from them.

Excellent AC. Have I told you this is my retirement plan?! I'm looking to set up a sailing experience / instruction thing, to earn a bit of part time pocket money once I give up proper work. If there is the demand, I might be looking for a young person to help me with a second boat! But it's probably a year or two away, if it ever gets off the ground (or on the water!) G
